Post 27 - planning (setting)

what do you understand by the term 'Setting'?

The term setting implies the place or surrounding areas where an event is taking place. For example, the setting could be a town centre or a forest. This is a crucial element to help the audience understand our video as it creates a location and meaning to the story.

What settings do you want to use in your video? Keep in mind that setting can refer to 1) The
time of day/season/year/decade/era and of course the actual physical locations. For example,
a bedroom or a shopping centre are as much a 'setting' as The Middle Ages, or during WW2
or the future.

The setting we want to use for our music video is rather simple yet effective as it links well and helps
the audience understand age and the story line. Our setting is school and classrooms and areas within
which works naturally with teenage school pupil actors in a romantic story line within school hours of
9-3pm. the year is present time so all props, casting and setting is a modern set up with the time the
audience watch this such as the 21st century. the specific settings are classrooms, hallways, a bench in a
courtyard and a science classroom where experiments are taking place.

Why are you wanting to create these settings? How will they create a mise-en-scene? How are they at all relevant to the style of music and lyrics?

The arrangement of everything that appears in the framing – actors, lighting, decor, props, costume – is called mise-en-scène, a French term that means “placing on stage.” The frame and camerawork are also considered part of the mise-en-scène of a movie. The setting of the school and classrooms etc are strategically  implemented to creating a story line more naturally with teenage characters so the realism is more effective moreover, this will fit in a romantic style of music as the pace and rhythm of the song relates to a romantic school relationships who's actions and story line relate directly to the lyrics.

Document organisation of your settings, eg-screen grab emails booking locations etc.

With our settings both free and accessible in school time before 9 - 3pm we are able to film without permission and acceptance or booking as we are pupils with free access to all school areas between school times in school term, Monday to Friday without consent.
